I've just had my 40th and whilst I was absolutely dreading it, we had a brilliant weekend. We went to Scotland and stayed here - it was the best place we've ever stayed it was so luxurious and all medieval inside glenskirliehouse/RoomsatGlenskirlie.aspx

On the Sunday (my birthday) we spent the day in edinburgh and had a lovely time, had a tour round the castle and had afternoon tea.

We had a walk around Loch Lomond in a blizzard but all good fun and certainly beats being at home. Personally I would go for a weekend break somewhere.

I've got to think of something to do for my boyfriend's 40th in June..

It's tough isn't it? It's my 40th in August and we are going to WDW (yay), but dh is asking what gift I would like and I just don't know. My best friend had a lovely Cartier watch for hers as she has always wanted one but there's nothing of that nature that I could justify as always wanting. I'm thinking maybe diamonds in some form as I am partial to those lol, and if I lose the weight I want to lose I would like some Jimmy Choos as a treat!

Bridget your birthday getaway looks so lovely... and you do not look forty dear!

It was my husbands 40th the other day, so I got him one of those car driving experiences.
He's always wanted to do something like that

Its my 40th birthday in June 2014. Ive got loads of weight to lose, I would love a shopping trip for my 40th to buy lots of new clothes
however something to keep would be fab too.
perhaps a nice ring/watch.

I got a Thomas Sabo charm Bracelet a couple of years ago for a surprise birthday present off DH, Every year DH buys me a Disney charm to go on it! My favourite charm is Daisy Duck. I absolutely adore my Bracelet.
Is your OH any good at picking presents, I know most men aren't, I'm lucky mine normally gets it right :-) Wouldn't it be nice to get a surprise?

I went to NEW YORK with my husband for my 40th and it was fab times...

But we were top of Trade of the World then 7 months

I will never forget it...

For my 50th I had Pink and Black Rock & Roll Party as it was best party ever cos I never had 18th or 21st or 30th... that why I decided to have family and friends it was excellent, next day I had high tea with close friends that was nice. then my family and I went to Florida for royal caribbean cruise then one week in Florida. That was excellent.

I went to WDW for my actual birthday last year so loads of people gave me dollars. I used the money I then didn't have to spend on dollars plus some pounds I'd been given and bought myself a pair of diamond earrings which I've wanted for years. I think of them as my 40th birthday pressie from everyone! Although my sister got me the Epcot segway tour and a Disney share. The share was a nice surpise and not the kind of thing you would ask for.

Something that you could keep would be nice maybe a Pandora or Chamilla bracelet and maybe a charm to go on it.This can be added to on future birthday's, christmas, mother's day etc.I suppose it depends on the budget and maybe a week-end away as well
