Watching rocket launches

We're going in November and, coincidentally, during our visit an atlas V rocket is due to pop over to mars for a bit.

I quite fancy seeing the launch but don't fancy going to KSC on launch day, therefore can anyone recommend a good viewing place? The KSC website only recommends places 15-20 miles away (Titusville and cocoa beach area) another website recommended playalinda beach. Has anyone been there?

Playalinda appears to be on NASA property. You should check access.

I have watched a Launch from Cocoa beach pier. Great view and great facilities.

Jetty Park is another popular spot to check.

Another vote for the Pier or Jetty Park...there's also a little restaurant near the cruise port called Grill's that's right on the water. You can have a meal and watch the rocket launch from there.

Thanks for the replies. I checked the KSC website and they listed jetty park as one of the places to go. Cocoa beach looks a bit far south. I'll probably go with jetty park!

How do you find out when they're launching.?

I've also seen a launch from Jetty Park (the last launch of Atlantic, in fact) and can recommend it. Another - lesser known but still good - spot, is Nicol Park in Port St John.
