Haven’t read all responses but have you tried buying an ear bulb and gently trying to release it yourself? I have to have mine syringed once a year and this helps if I do it regularly.

Thank you for posting this, my DD has had blocked ears for weeks. Unfortunately is something she suffers with despite using Olive oil and Otex and up until the first lockdown would get her ears syringed at the Drs. Have bought her a kit to see if that helps, she deals with the public face to face and on the phone and is finding it very hard at the moment. Hilaryx

Sounds like you need micro suction, I had compacted wax in my ear and one day couldn’t hear as all muffled, it stayed like that for a week so got to the point where it needed sorting. My GP surgery do microsuction for £40 per ear but well worth it, that’s the only way of instantly sorting it. You have them flushed out with water and it’s noisy but was amazing afterwards, I could hear again!

It might not be wax it might be inner ear or eusaschian tube. Steam with some olbas oil, chew or open mouth wide and maybe get a decongestant nasal spray.

Just a quick update. Nurse confirmed wax was the problem.

Have today been for micro suction, the blocked ear, he was able to remove some of it. He has asked me to now put bicarb drops in to help break it up, he doesn't want to go in too far.
My other is full of wax but he cannot get it out as it is not soft enough.

Going back to him on Sunday (no charge for todays visit)

I’m pleased for you - that will be the easy solution. The wax will soften. My DH has this issue. He has found he needs them doing less regularly if he uses olive oil once or twice a week.
