Your not alone I don't have anyone outside my kids that I actually socialise with.
I do exchange the odd bit of small talk with a couple of other mums but that's it. I did have a couple of close friends in my teens but life gets in the way and we all went our separate ways - you always say you'll keep in touch but eventually stop making the effort. I do find social interactions quite difficult/uncomfortable so its easier not to bother but some days I do wish I had other people in my life to share things with. |

Don’t really have friends, we have a couple with their four kids (adults) who is my husbands life long friend. We meet up at ours or there’s about four times a year. I go out with dh (my best mate) my kids who are grown ups, my doggy my furry best mate. My sister is lonely since my mum died so we go shopping together, I have had loads of friends over the years but don’t do drama, bitching, gossip so our friendships didn’t last. Mums at the school used to invite me out I always declined. On Friday, me, my sister, my son, my daughter all going up London together. Friends are overrated x

I have a couple of very close friends and a lot of people I am friendly with who I have met over the years from work, fellow Villa owners, and the ladies lunch group who ironically I have met at Gym classes. I am also very close to my daughter and daughters in law, in fact we are off to a spa day together on Sunday, together with eldest granddaughter. I am quite happy with my own company too, or with just OH.
I am a lot older than a lot of you of course so I have more time to socialise. Edited at 10:58 PM. |

I think it's much harder for young mums now, typically my generation gave up work when we had babies and made friends with other SAHM. One of my closest friends was in the bed opposite me when I had my eldest and we stayed in 10 days then so lots of time to bond. Then when kids went to playschool and school there were other mum's to socialise with, PTA, football, netball etc lots of opportunities to mix. Happy Days.

I know exactly how you feel. I missed a lot of the critical ways and times that people make lasting friends ( going to Uni, living a settled life in the same area, having children) so, at 60, I have one friend who lives hundreds of miles away. I love DH, and appreciate having a happy marriage but I too would love someone to have a coffee with - who isn’t in my family 😁
