Gatwick Vs Manchester prices.

Hi all.
Ive been looking at flight prices for last week of Feb into first week of March 2020. Is there a reason why Gatwick direct flights to MCO [Virgin/BA] are almost half the price of the direct flights out of MAN. I checked school holidays and they are the same... It would make sense for me to book out of Gatwick and drive down the night before the flight, park the car at Gatwick for 16 nights, plus fuel and would still save over £400... I find this quite unbelievable... even the checked in luggage is far cheaper at Gatwick..

That's so strange, as I'm looking for Aug 2020 and flights out of Manchester are around £300pp cheaper than out of London! And I need London!

No advice for you though, just saying

Hi,
Where are you finding those flights out of Manchester?

We live in Leeds but have flown from LGW the last two times. MAN doesn’t have the options LGW does and options in airlines and routes means better prices. MAN isn’t always more expensive but that’s a case of hitting it on the right day.

I was gobsmacked at the difference in price... for example..out of MAN direct with Virgin is £515 without checked baggage, add another £100 each for checked baggage... out of Gatwick same dates end of Feb, beginning of March, and almost same flight times is £317 WITH checked bags...about £266 basic economy...thats unreal prices. I. Prepared to drive down from North Manchester, park the car at Gatwick for £90 and save £400. I could also use BA out of Gatwick direct too.

Not criticising your or anyone for doing that but even for that saving I'm not sure I could be bothered with the hassle the drive down, plus possible overnight stay and certainly not the drive back

We live in Manchester but have booked Gatwick flights as MAN were £900 more expensive! The drive home will be a hassle I admit but I was loathe to pay an extra £900 just to fly from my local airport!
