Duty free question
Hi
We’re flying from terminal 3 at Heathrow and I’m thinking of buying a Louis Vuitton bag to take advantage of the 20% off. If I do that, does it count towards my tax free allowance meaning that I’ll have to declare it when I come back into the country? Thanks

ou can bring in other goods worth up to £390 (or up to £270 if you arrive by private plane or boat). If a single item’s worth more than your allowance you pay any duty or tax on its full value, not just the value above the allowance. If you go over your allowance You pay Customs Duty on anything you bring in above your allowance. The rate: is 2.5% for goods worth up to £630 depends on the type of goods if they’re worth more than £630 - check by calling the VAT, Customs and Excise Helpline You may also have to pay import VAT. this is the official information regarding goods brought in to the country however ...

It always amazes me how many people on the way home appear to have bought brand new trainers before they went to Florida...

If you bought it tax free then yes it does. If it was just reduced but you still paid tax then no it doesn't. Easiest way to check is if the price is the same if you where going to Europe and to anywhere else in the world the its tax paid.
