Mobile Las Vegas with kids - Tips welcome!

Hi all,

We’ve already been to Florida twice this year in March and June so never had anything booked for summer holidays. We were planning on a last minute all inclusive to Spain. That never happened... I somehow had a moment of madness last night and booked Vegas for our family of 5 (me hubby and our 3 boys 14,11&8). We go next weekend 14th -21st July from Manchester staying in Jubilee Tower at Bally’s. I’ve literally got no time to plan anything (Hubbys bright idea booking a two day camping trip to the Isle of Skye tomorrow aswell) so we’ll be totally winging it all the way! Good job we work well under pressure 🙈

Never been before so don’t even know what to expect. Excited though! Any tips you have please pass them my way. And wish me luck lol

Thanks!
Louise 🙂

Also any feedback on this ticket would be appreciated

gocity/las-vegas/en-us/p...er/attractions

With the £50 Expedia promo that’s on just now it would be £140 per adult for 3 day pass

Take a look at this:
familyvacationhub/las...las-vegas.html

Most of the things I have done and enjoyed. Will you be hiring a car? We dont.

Stayed at Ballys a couple of weeks ago. Dont forget there are at least 3 exits there so depending on which way you are going another exit might suit you. Pools nice but will be hot at this time of year. Rooms were fine. We stayed in the newly renovated resort tower, but have stayed in Jubilee. Jubilee offer better views, while the location of resort tower is set back and has poor views often over roof tops. Stage Door bar across from the side entrance to Ballys has $1 beers and $2 hot dogs just for a snack. We just took them to our room Also has litre bottle of Smirnoff Vodka for $9.99 if you like a tipple in your room. There is a Walgreens right by Ballys for water pop snacks etc. There is a fridge in the room to keep things cool. Ocean One Bar and grill has a great cheap breakfast in Miracle Mile shops where Planet Hollywood is... maybe 5/8 minute walk out of front door of Ballys. Wahlburgers is right at shops outside of Ballys. There is an indoor walkway which leads you right into Paris hotel. There is a Hash House inside Linq hotel, and Outback on the strip. Trying to give you ideas of places you may have visited in Florida. The hotel buffets are expensive and for 5 would be a silly price so would not suggest them. I play myvegas and get them free but obviously no use to you

You can usually get coupons on strip for a lot of the attractions included in the ticket you mention. Groupon also does a few. I would purchase individually as you are then not obliged to do them. The strip is very long and just walking around the hotels and getting there takes much longer than you may think

If you would like any help or advice just ask. Not actually done Vegas with kids but have been a lot so may be able to answer your questions. Hope you have a wonderful time and take or buy plenty of sunscreen. When we were just there it was 104 degrees some days. You can cut through hotels where its nice and cool but as I am sure you know kids cant stop in the casino you can just walk through. Have fun

Edit: Uber/Lyft are reliable and cheap. Maybe half price to a taxi. Was $10 to airport couple of weeks ago. Do you have 2 rooms at Ballys or just one? There is a Johhny Rockets, and Asian downstairs in Ballys. In "n" Out Burger at Linq Promenade which might suit the lads. Dennys in opposite direction opposite Park Mgm. Dont know how long your trip is but would it be worth a trip to Walmart with Uber to buy drinks snacks water etc? Would guess with 5 of you you will drink quite a bit lol Prices are lot cheaper than the strip and an Uber is about $11.

I can highly recommend the Go Las Vegas card *if* there are things on there that you were going to do anyway. I've previously done the Go City "Choose 4" Las Vegas Pass (£59 from Costco.co.uk) and the Las Vegas Pass but these cards can be holiday-ruining if you haven't done your research beforehand - particularly if you are determined to get your money's worth by chasing across town to see multiple attractions. If you don't want to do all the attractions, you can always check on Groupon to see if the ones you want to do are available individually.

Spend some time researching what you want to do, how close the attractions are to each other and if there are any restrictions (hours are restricted on many attractions but you don't know that until you look at each attraction individually). I've been in several situations (Los Angeles Pass) where I've spent $35 to park the car to visit an awful $5 attraction or found that the visiting hours were different for Go City pass holders.

My kids loved the Avengers Station and the mini golf but they were aged 8 and 6 when we last visited.

Have a look at the POGO pass for Las Vegas too. Sorry I can’t do links on this. It’s currently 39.00 on groupon Las Vegas and lasts a year, although it does not have the same stuff as this. Because we’ve been before though, it’s stuff we would actually be doing anyway and have saved a lot.

Don’t worry about winging it. Provided you know where the hotels are, you won’t miss any of the attractions. I go with kids and my sons favourite things are getting a non alcoholic yard glass from Senor Frogs, visiting all of the hotels, go karting at mini Grand Prix on rainbow blvd, gameworks at towne square, Cowabunga bay water park, madam tausauds, the high roller, the Strat hotel deck, the singers at the Venetian hotel, high fiving the showgirls on the strip .

Things I’ve added in this year is eating at Hell’s Kitchen, the sugar Factory and possibly top of the world at the stratosphere. We will also visit the lion habitat and the valley of fire. You either love or hate Vegas, we love it and cannot wait to go back We will be staying mainly at the Signature, with one night stays at Vdara and the Wynn (both reward stays).

As has been suggested, have a look on groupon and also travelzoo. Right now there is an offer on travelzoo buy a 10 dollar voucher and receive 20 in the forum shops in Caesars palace. This can be used on a range of stuff including the Cheesecake Factory and bath and body works. It comes in the form of a prepaid Amex. Get one for all lol

I have used the Groupon for shops twice and bought BBW. Only problem I had was carrying it all home with the weight in my suitcase lol. We just stayed at Vdara for 3rd time and are staying at Signature in September/October for 4 nights then after that at Bally’s again.

What did you think of Vdara I thought I’d use a reward to see how it compares to the Signature. I know what you mean about the shopping

Gorgeous. Lovely condo style room, great staff, 5 mins into Aria and 5 mins through walkway to Bellagio. I am staying on myVEGAS reward and got free rooms. Will definitely stay there again. What did you think of Signature? I an a bath and body works addict lol. Staying at Caesars in December for a change and maybe another myVEGAS reward at an MGM property. You will love Vdara.

Wow, amazing tips and advice from all of you, thanks so much! This first hand knowledge sorta info is exactly what I was after 🙂 Will be so useful to me as we wing it lol

I’ve went ahead and bought the go card passes for us all. It was a no brainer really price wise as it covers pretty much everything we want to see and do plus the shows being included will save us a fortune. It’ll be a mad but exciting 3 days trying to pack in as much as humanly possible! Just need to take the time and work out all the logistics of the hotels in order to get the most out of them (the 5 hour drive to Manchester will be perfect for this!). It also means on the other days we can take our time seeing and doing the ‘free’ stuff and some shopping etc.

Currently making up a list of restaurants based on recommendations from you guys. So far i’ve got Ellis Island cafe - great reviews on trip advisor and menu (and prices!)looks fab. Ocean One bar & Grill - noted to go here for $4.99 lunch after seeing menu. Stage Door Bar for $2 hot dogs. We also get an hours free bar at Señor Frogs included in our passes so we’ll go there for a few beverages and maybe a few bar snacks for food. We also get $15 meal credit for Planet Hollywood with our passes so we’ll have a meal there too. Johnny Rockets in our hotel so will probs eat there at some point too. We might try Hell’s Kitchen for a splurge last night in Vegas kinda meal. Although I’ve saw it gets busy so may not get a table. The Travelzoo $10 for $20 credit will be getting purchased...wonder how many you’re restricted to buying?

We get one premium show included in passes and I can’t decide on LOVE by cirque or Blue Man Group.

We don’t have a car so for our 3 days of madness we’ll use the included 2 day hop on hop off bus pass and the 1 day monorail pass. The other days I guess we’ll use our feet to go from hotel to hotel.

Did want to ask how you’d get from airport to your hotels? I know it’s not far so would all 5 of us plus luggage fit in a cab outside the airport or would I be better booking a proper transfer beforehand?

Thanks!

Louise x
