Newark Airport duty free
HiFolks
Are the duty free shops any good at Newark and is there much difference between prices there or on the flight home. Probably thinking more towards perfume and make up rather than watches etc. Oh and I want a Pandora apple charm, where's the best place for that? Many thanks. Jackie

I was there about 3 years ago. The duty free shopping area was minimal, nothing exciting at all. Don't know if it's changed much since I was there.

It's a pretty big airport so you usually have to walk a fair bit to get to some places. I usually always buy things in MAC, although with the exchange rate this year I probably won't bother. The first year I went (about 7 years ago) I got an absolutely gorgeous Guess bag in there. I usually just spend time in the food court and then use my remaining dollars to buy sweets

I was there on the way home on Thursday. There are three Duty Free Shops in Newark airport but they are not big and have limited stock.
They usually give you a 22% discount voucher to spend (for that day) after you spend at least $100 in Duty free. Not always, but quite often. If you are buying lots, do it in two transactions and you may get the voucher for the 2nd purchase. They were doing 2 x Litre Grey Goose vodka for $60. I got some good deals on perfume and aftershave which worked out buying in dollars which I would have paid in UK pounds. Sorry, didn't look at jewellery. |
