Mobile Lightsaber on outward flight

Has anyone got experience of, or know the rules about, taking a lightsaber on an outbound flight as hand luggage? I know the TSA allow them on the way back from Florida. My son wants to take his Kylo Ren lightsaber with him from home but we don't want to risk it getting it confiscated. Thanks.

Not sure why a plastic toy lightsaber would be confiscated? Potentially not allowed as carry on depending on size but other than that it’s a toy rather than offensive weapon.

Fake/replica gun/knife etc I could understand, but a toy lightsaber would be fine (they are ok for outbound flights after all).

You're allowed to bring them back on the return flight. My question was about taking one we already have from the UK.

Thanks. We just got back but didn't take the lightsaber. It's a full size one so probably would've been rejected as too long for hand luggage (plus we already had a bag each).

It's a shame as a photographer asked if my son had a lightsaber for photos he posed of my son (as Kylo) fighting my daughter (as Rey with her staff). He did a Force battle pose instead, which came out great.
