bar protocol and Cozumel

After doing one of the DCL 4 nights cruises in 2017 we were left unsure whether cruising was for us. We feel this was clearly down to us not making the most of it so with that in mind we have booked the DCL Western Caribbean cruise in September 2019. With this in mind I wonder if you fine people could answer a couple of questions.

1. Stupid question really but when drinking in the bars do you order the drinks from the bar and then sit down or do you find a table and a waiter comes to you?

2. We would love to visit Chichen Itza but the thought of being on a coach for 4 hours feels me with dread. We have looked at Fly Cozumel which as the name suggest flies you straight there. Its very expensive and I just wondered if anyone has experience of either excursion?

Thanks in advance

Usual protocol is sit at the bar and have your drink there, or sit at a table and be served by a waiter.
Not sure from your post whether the flight to Chicken Pizza ( as we call it) is independent or through DCL. If independent then the risk of delays and missing the ship is too great for me - and we always do diy trips!

We call it Chicken Pizza too and agree that a flight to there would need to be researched and researched again (ten times and more).

How often does it fly? How often has it cancelled flights? How 'on time' is it every day? What time does it fly you back - how long before All Aboard time?

We do DIY excursions every cruise, but I'd be a little wary of a DIY flight personally.

For drinks, grab a lounger, a chair or a bar stool - a server will be with you very quickly!

We went to Tulum on a cruise excursion and really enjoyed it. Not as grand as Chitchen Itza but a very dramatic location.
We have also been to Chitchen Itza when we stayed at Cancun (bus trip)It was a long journey (as is Tulum) and the site is vast. TBH if we had realised how tiring and hot it was going to be we both agree we wouldn’t have done it, it was also incredibly busy, a mad house to get into the actual site.

I’d second the vote for Tulum, we really enjoyed our visit there (possibly more than Chitchen Itza).
