I think if you are happy with what you are booking whether its package or DIY just go for it.. Bargains can be found with either package or DIY.. DIY gives you more flexibility but requires more research and waiting and planning.. I did a Virgin Package for our first holiday in 2010 and got a lovely villa in Davenport.. I was happy with what I had paid. 2013 I did DIY and booked flights and car hire seperately plus a townhouse in Paradise Palms and a beach villa in Anna Maria.. lots of deposits to pay and keeping track of everything.. but again happy with what I paid..
2016 flew from Manchester to Miami with TC as flights were a bargain.. again had a villa in orlando and the same beach house in Anna Maria, and also a night in Ft Lauderdale in a hotel..would have preferred to do ft Lauderdale Orlando then Anna Maria, but because the Anna Maria property was booked for our 2nd week we had to do Anna Maria then Orlando.. not really a problem.. but I remember all the research and planning gave me a headache.. as we also booked a return flight from Exeter to Manchester airport too ... I may well do a package next time I go.. as I like the idea of paying it off in chunks.. and will probably fly from Bristol if I can get a good deal.
