The cabin side does not matter too much unless you are doing a transatlantic( where you want the sun on your balcony). In port the ship can be docked any side, so that won’t make a difference. If you are exiting Venice then a balcony cabin on the Port (left hand) side will give you a view of st Marks Square.
We try and pick one between two other decks with cabins on, so you have a cabin above and below you. We avoid being under the open decks ( the staff put chairs etc out very early), under noisy bars, the theatre and definitely not under the gym! We live where it is very quiet, so like a quiet cabin to sleep in. Edited at 09:23 AM. |

As well as all that excellent advice, if you are worried about motion and sea sickness then go for a midships cabin. Forward cabins get the most motion. Aft gets a bit more than midship. We had a very aft cabin once and we also felt vibrations every morning when docking.
You also want to see exactly where the cabin is on the deck plan- if you want a quiet cabin then avoid one right next to an elevator or laundry room. If there is blank space next to you then that means a crew area that could also produce noise. You also want to check it doesn't have a connecting door to the next cabin. We had a connecting one once and we could hear every cough and tv noise from next door- thank god we had quiet neighbours! However, some people will deliberately choose cabins right next to elevators etc because they want a short walk! So it all depends on your personal wants. |

I asked for a cabin not too close to the elevator which I believe is midship on the Britannia.
Coincidentally June8th the date we sail is 8th June 😀 Edited at 01:54 PM. |

Enjoy the cruise, if you think you might get seasick Boots ( and other places) sell Sea Bands. It’s a wrist band that helps combat nausea. They work very well for me, I used to get sea sick looking at a cup of tea! Check the size, I wear children’s as my wrists are small.
I can’t help with any of the ports as we haven’t been to them! I picked the name June8th as that was the date I rejoined The Dibb. Edited at 04:35 PM. |
