We are in Golden Forest too! Really can't wait. You will have a fab time and there will always be something else to replace your time at the pool. A magical time of year to go too :-)

On one of our visits to DLP a few years ago, we had booked into the Magic Circus Hotel (one of the partner hotels). We had a call from our travel agent a few weeks before we went to say the pool would be closed and they could either move us to Newport Bay Hotel or give us a refund. We chose the money. I can't remember how much money we got back now as it was a good few years ago, but it was a significant amount. We were delighted, to be honest, as we would not have queried it.
As you say, you'll have a great time anyway, but it might be worth asking if you could get an upgrade. (I've heard the pool at Disneyland Hotel is very nice - lol!)
