Downtown Orlando

Just wondered if anyone else has visited downtown Orlando. Is it worth a visit? I know there's a lake in the centre but just wondered if there's anything to see. I fancy seeing a bit of the "normal" US if that's possible.

We've been a couple of times, but only of an evening to see bands at The Social... there's always a good atmosphere in that area with quite a few bars and restaurants around

Downtown Orlando is mainly a business center, I wouldn't count it as a tourist attraction. If you want to go there's Lake Eola to walk around and the Orange County History Museum but apart from that mostly office buildings. It's not normal USA.

If you want to see a bit of the normal USA go and visit Mount Dora.

Cheers all, I just read something in the Brits Guide that iirc suggested it was an ok visit. Not sure we'll bother though given your input. Thanks again.

Go to Winter Park, stroll Main Street, ride the boat, enjoy the park.

[QUOTE=Posiesmum;10243294]Anna-Marie, what have I told you about encouraging folks to go downtown/Thornton Park!?
I thought we were keeping it to ourselves!
Don't go folks, you'll be robbed and beaten up by everyone.[Quote]
