I know I wouldn't use the kitchen when renting DVC. I don't like cooking at home, I'm not doing it on holiday. But the fact it's not there bugs me as they'll try to sell it as a feature when really, it's a budget cut.
When I first saw the pictures, I thought the config could be a nice addition. I won't do sofa beds if I need two beds, which really limits my choices in current configs. But I was only looking at the two double beds part, was expecting the usual DVC amenities. Selling a standard resort room rebadged as DVC just doesn't sit right with me. I'm sure they won't have any problems selling the inventory though, most likely to those who'll buy for the GF name alone. Edited at 09:39 AM. |

I have owned and exchanged timeshare since 1990 and this is definitely BELOW any timeshare I have owned or exchanged into. There seems a continuing theme amongst DVC owners of belittling other timeshares. You purchased a Disney timeshare it’s a great location but a timeshare. And yes I have exchanged into Disney but actually prefer the Hilton Grand Vacations on Vineland Ave.

I know nothing about other Timeshares. But I know the Hilton one you are on about and it looks very nice.

Its a beautiful room but we would rather the Kitchenette to make our own breakfast and like the table and chairs if we bring food back to the room
I guess it gives people more options which is surely not a bad things People want different things from their rooms I suppose |

We don't use the kitchenette when we stay in studios, and I like the room but would want to be spending far fewer points to stay in one. If it's a low point cost then great, but I have a feeling it won't be.

Are they just doing these studios in the conversion? Or 1, 2 and 3 beds too?
If they are doing 1 beds that interconnect with these rooms, then that would be the perfect layout for our family! 2 proper beds, no more fighting about who has the sofa bed, and we would only use the kitchen in the 1 bed anyway. I'm guessing that isn't the case though!

I think I'd be OK with this if I didn't plan on using the microwave. The value of DVC is that you're staying at a deluxe Disney resort at a reduced cost. From their perspective and most owners, it devalues the product if you're getting something too distant from the other hotel rooms at the hotel. If this is what they're going for, personally I think it looks nice and is keeping with other rooms at the GF.

This layout would actually suit us much better so I'm going to be interested to see if these 'resort studios' have a different points value to the 'deluxe studios'. If they do then I'd be quite pleased to have this option.

We own at VGF and I love the new room. The kitchenette doesn't worry me as we only ever make tea or coffee and the food court will be more accessible.
