They list $104 for value season, $129 for regular season, and $149 for peak season but there isn't a single value date listed on the calendar. Even on a regular day a hopper adds $50, so you're back up to $179. Add another $15 for MaxPass and you're still looking at nearly $200.
Ah, the old "lets put a 'bargain' price up but not actually use it" tactic.

Most likely thats so they can use "from $109" in the advertising. Plus unlike WDW, you'd be hard pressed to spend more than 3 days there, limiting the option to get better value by going for longer as you can in Florida.

No wonder DL is quiet.

I've spent 4-5 days there before in the busy season, so there's enough to do, but that's not an option now. There's an EU/UK ticket for 2 days but that would already double my expenses (food, hotel, ticket) and that's money I'd rather not spend. I guess they've priced me out!

We’ve been to Florida many times in the past, but this year’s visit will be the first without tickets to any of the four “dry” Disney parks. I just couldn’t justify the prices they wanted. It wasn’t helped by the fact that we are going for 10 nights and would have had to buy a 14-day pass and therefore feel obliged to go there every day to get value from it.

In the end I got us some annual passes for the Disney waterparks and 14-day passes for the Seaworld trio. These came in at about half what the Disney tickets would have cost and there’s no parking charges either. That’s another total rip-off - go there for 10 days and it’s $250 in parking? When I first went in the early 90s I’m sure it was only $4 to park for the day.

The decision was made a bit easier by the kids being older now (my son is 16 and my daughter is 19), so they’re not as bothered.

To see if my memory was correct I went off and found a history of parking charges at Disney. Look at this:

Early 1970s: 30 cents
1983: $1.00
1986-1987: $2.00
1989-1990: $3.00
1991-1994: $4.00
1995-2000: $5.00
2001-2003: $6.00
2004: $7.00
2006:$8.00
2009:$11.00
2011-2013: $14.00
2014: $15.00
2015: $17.00

Last time we were there was 2012 and I remember it being $14 then, so I think this is accurate. Looks like they’ve really gone for it since 2015 to get it from $17 to $25.

For all those comparing the increases in costs can we also have the increase in wages so how much of a percentage things cost to get a truer picture. Figures taken out of context have no valid meaning.

That would make the price rises seem a lot worse.

If we call parking in 2010 12.50 for simplicities sake it's doubled in 9 years. An averaged increase of 11.1%

Average pay increase on the other hand is usually about 2.5-5% tops (used to be the higher figure more often...)

From what I recall hotels usually go up by anything from 5% on the low end to 15% and above depending on circumstance.

I haven't done the detailed math but I can guarantee price rises at WDW have outstripped pay increases by a significant margin over the last decade alone. (Also, in that time we've had 0 new parks and large gaps in investment - the belated updates to HS and EP show this.)

Oh boy how could I forget. If only I'd had the money to buy thousands of dollars back before the vote, I'd be a satisfied bunny right now.

Factoring in a 15-20% dollar rate drop paints a very bleak picture. It's times like this I wonder why it's not more of a big deal to me. I guess the answer is that no matter where you go these days exchange rates are crap. 2015 we got 1.40 euro to the pound. Would love those days back again.

Welllll... might have to disagree there. Back in 2009 we paid less than €1.10 per £. Our DDP cost about €21pppn! That's less than a third of what it costs now.
