My mum is just coming to the end of two weeks in mexico before travelling on to denver at the weekend (the advice she received through my brothers work were not to count arrival or leaving day, with 14 full days in mexico needed).
She booked an ai in an out of way part of cancun. She has not left the hotel complex, and all the staff are wearing masks even outdoors. everybody has temp taken before they enter the restaurant. she also has a detol spray can so that she can do a quick spray after anyone has been in her room. she can see how hard the hotel are trying to keep everyone safe. It is busier than she hoped, and she generally leaves the pool area after lunch when it gets a bit livelier. Im not sure she has really enjoyed her time there, but its a means to an end to spend a month with my brother and family. Very concious of all the time she has missed with my niece who is 4. There were at least two other people on her flight doing the same thing. I think if your son wants to do this, then there are ways to minimise the risk with careful planning. |

Might be easier to enter US by land ?
Looking at CDC FAQ it seems there are different criteria compared to entering by air ? I'm trying to confirm insurance cover if flying against FCDO advising against all but essential travel. Quite a few people are entering US from Mexico. So long as everything is above board seeing his girlfriend possibly is essential anyway, for him. |

My insurance would not cover me travelling against Govt advice so any Amber country is out (I rang nationwide and asked and followed up with an EMail where they confirmed it - also I would be covered to say a Green country that changes to Amber (or red) while there - that was my primary concern)

Advice against all but essential travel isn’t the same as the traffic light system.
There are many countries that are amber where they’ve lifted the advice against all but essential travel. I don’t think they have for Mexico though so additional insurance from the likes of Battleship would be required. |
