Black Country Welsh go to Cornwall
This isn’t intended to be a proper trip report, just a review of our brief trip to Trevone that may help other dibbers;
This was a four night trip to Trevone plus overnight stays either end in Pontypool as it’s too long a drive to do all in one from here in NW Wales. It was just DH and myself visiting SIL and BIL who own a static caravan on Mother Iveys bay We didn’t decide to go until the end of May so the choice of accommodation was limited, in the end we booked a Shepherds Hut in Trevone via Air B and B, it was virtually new, had only been sited in May this year and it was wonderful, really cosy, very high spec and you wouldn’t know we were in Cornwall in the height of summer, where we were on the edge of Trevone all we could hear were birds singing and waves crashing. We walked the coastal path to Harlyn Bay and watched the surfers, again it was busy but not the kind of busy you see when they put Bournemouth or Brighton beach on the TV News, there was plenty of room on the beach. The only time we felt it to be uncomfortably busy was when we went into St Merryn to get a takeaway, it was chaos there, we were glad we hadn’t decided to stay there. We had booked a table at The Cornish Arms and had a lovely meal there, but SIL managed to get 7 of us a table for Sunday Lunch at the Trevisker garden centre and she only booked the day before again the meal was a lovely carvery, both restaurants we went to were not full, quite a few empty tables at both We were lucky with the traffic on both journeys, it was busy but not at a standstill on the M5 and the welsh A roads In conclusion it wasn’t as busy as we’d expected it to be thankfully and we had a great time catching up with SIL and BIL who we haven’t seen for many months Hope this might help others or allay some fears about going to Cornwall |
