St Petes Beach- 1 or 2 nights?

We are travelling next August for 3 weeks- have onsite stays at universal and Disney followed by 10 nights in a villa. Want to see the coast during that time and preferably St Petes beach. Thinking that an over night stay makes the drive more worthwhile- but is 1 night enough or should we book 2 and make it a mini break within the holiday? Anyone done this? We are 2 adults 3 kids (16,12,10)

We go to either Clearwater or Anna Maria, it's defiantly worth at least one night. There is lots to do, dolphin trips etc, so it's nice to have the time there.

I'd definitely do 2 nights to make the most of going. If you're staying at St Pete's Beach then you can go to Fort De Soto State Park for the award winning, beautiful beach.

We booked into the Grand Plaza for a couple of nights pre-covid. Bongo's beach bar is a treat with eats and music in the evening. Clearwater is just up the road if you want it.
