borrowing points help
i have just tried to book two rooms for later on in the year, i was just about to confirm this, when i saw a warning on the bottom of the screen regarding borrowing more than 50% points, if i go ahead with this booking they will cancel the lot, any idea how to get round this, i am 20 points over the 50% borrowing rule, seem silly to rent points off someone else when i have my own points.

If you are borrowing more than 50% of your 2023 allocation they will definitely cancel your booking within 7 days.
Why don’t you give them a call, I know you can pay for up to 24 points from DVC, although I think this might have to be at the 7 month window. Might be best giving them a call.

There is no way around this, it's a rule in place due to the demand from Covid impact. As Andi said you can buy one off points from them, rent or buy a transfer from another member.
Another suggestion is to do a cash night on your arrival night and check into DVC early the next morning. We used to do this in our early days of membership.

Yes. I did think the only way round it is to rent points for our first nights stay, I understand the reason behind, just my luck to take my daughter and boyfriend when the points system have changed.

I wonder when they'll retire this rule. Judging by how busy the resorts have been, I'd like to think we've caught up with most of the pent-up demand and postponed trips. At least for the US domestic side of things.
April this year, maybe? |
