If all your tips have been paid then this is equivalent of a very good OB credit, as good if not better than most US T/As (whether you count this as being 'free' or not will depend on what you have paid over all ).

How much this equates to you can find out by looking on the tips calculator link that was posted on another post on here recently "TIPPING ADVICE". ... or work it out from the guide given on the DCL website. Remember it is so much per person, per night (there 4 positions) regardless if you have used the restaurant, and regardless of whether any member of your party is a baby/ OAP.

I don't think TCD give any other OB credits...its not really in the British T/A culture I'm afraid... whereas its very much part of the US T/A's

Sorry to sound thick - but can someone explain how the credits work? have I got it right in thinking that when you go to check out and pay your bill, they deduct your credits from DU and any credits you paid into your account off the bill then you pay the balance? what happenes if I paid say £500 of credits into our account but didnt use it all - how would they credit me back?

I haven't done this but I guess if you paid $$s onto your account before you cruised by credit/debit card, then they would refund the card. Or if you put cash onto it at the port, then you get cash back.

We didn't pay any $$s up front on our account, we simply paid the balance outstanding (by credit card) after the 'free' OB credits had been deducted from our bill, at the end of the cruise.

You don't get any of your 'free' OB credits (ie those given to you by a T/A or DCL as a booking offer etc.) refunded in the highly unlikely event you didn't spend them. Also any 'free' ones are used up first on your bill.

Hi we did the Eastern Caribbean cruise 2 years ago and yes all gratuities were paid by TCD this is good as otherwise you have quite a few to hand out! but no other onboard credits are included! We are going on the Western Caribbean cruise in 2 weeks looking forward to it If you are going on one of the Carnival boats they are no cash on board and all extra's are charged to your room and taken at the end of the cruise.

hope this helps
