The trick wasn't amazing. I'm no magician but there's many ways that could have been done.
I didn’t know whether it was because I only watched it last night, after having seen several Facebook posts raving about it and how emotional it was - but I too thought it was too contrived and it didn’t feel as magical as other tricks they’ve had on there in the past - but as I say, that might of been because I had been expecting so much having read all of the reviews?

I did shed a slight tear, but not about the act - just about Ant crying and hitting the golden buzzer - I always like the golden buzzer bit! Lol!

I also didn’t like it, thought the part where his daughter called out seemed overdubbed? I was shouting for them not to hit the golden buzzer ☹️

I saw an explanation on Facebook. It is far easier than it seemed. After reading that I am with those who feel it was too manipulative and wonder how he can create the same impact next time.

Yep I agree, the magician’s trick could have been done a number of ways and it did seem in bad taste.

Basically, because he's using their suffering to advance his career, and all over national TV.

I suppose there's nothing against making a few quid after the suffering - they probably deserve some good fortune - but cashing in on it just seems a little off to me.

The one thing that struck me was the pen and the book. We didn't see the book up close, and there are certainly "trick" books out there that aren't real books, and only have a small number of possibilities.

We didn't see that the pen was a real, working pen. The chances of Simon actually encircling an entire word, and a small word at that, seem quite remote. So the "hat" could be pre-circled on every page.

I didn't pay close enough attention but I presume if he's good enough with cards he could have placed the penguin on top without us noticing.

The Rubik's cube is a bit trickier to explain. The video could have had multiple versions of that shot and the correct one picked by someone off-stage before it started to play.

These are just my thoughts - I have no clue what I'm talking about! I'd be interested if anyone has a link to the actual answer. I find magic fascinating.

The clue is that he had to put it back in it's box
