Thanks Lizzim and Rac20.
I'll have a proper look at them, but I'm a bit scared that either me or DW will do something wrong with the video like pressing the wrong button. (And it would be just like me to do that) At that point we would have left it too late to get anywh else.

I don't think I could wait until we got to Southampton, my nerves couldn't take the wait.

Can you make video calls like FaceTime?

If so, you really can do it.

It’s the same type of process and the test is simple and they will literally take you step by step.

I've never heard of Facetime, but I tried talking to our grandchildren a couple of years ago on WhatsApp video, and that didn't go very well. So I decided I'm not great with technology these days, which is a bit annoying be many years ago I used to teach computer studies. (But that was in the days before mobile phones and broadband connections)

Technology just got away from me.

Have you got a friend or neighbor who could help you with the video.

We have taken a few cruises post Covid and tested a lot. We are going again in 3 weeks and already have our tests from a company which arrived very quickly after ordering in fact some places you can pick them up. Instructions included. alternatively some Lloyds chemists do them (although sometimes people have been let down). I’ve also been told you can use NHS kits and send photo of the result to CheqUp for a fee of £7.50 they will issue fit to fly certificate P&O accept these not sure about RC. alternatively DAM health have a clinic in Southampton itself you can book into. Although with P&O you have to take the tests the day before embarkation it looks like it can be upto 2 days with RC. As for where you’ve booked telling you you can’t have it when you booked do you have to tell them the date you are sailing? Can’t you go first thing before leaving for Southampton? Sure there’s a way around it! Just Googled DAM Southampton, loads of appointments available, £22 including emergency ones £39.
Also in Nottingham itself too and Derby.

Thanks for your help. This cruise has been turning into a bit of a nightmare. Looking back, maybe we should have postponed the cruise until the cruise lines dropped their testing. Although the way it is going, it looks like testing might be here for a long time yet.

We also have a cruise with RC in October, so hopefully we won't get the same problems. At some point surely we have to get back to normal.

Just an update. I spoke to our daughter and she says, although she has never used Facetime, apparently its quite easy. Our grandchildren are going to show me how it works on Wednesday. (Hope I can understand it)
I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks to everyone for their help. This is certainly the place for any help and advice. Much appreciated.

It’s a pity theirs has to be supervised. P&O are trusting guests to do it themselves unsupervised. For £22 I would book an in person one and go along to the one in Nottingham. Peace of mind. Good luck. Once it’s done you wonder why you stressed. We are flying out to Malta for a week around the med and are worried about flying/luggage delays. Going to try with just hand luggage and no dressing up this time!
