we did it when it was wishes and you couldn't really see the castle just the fireworks. It's quite a cool experience my daughter enjoyed it... the dessert bit before the cruise you meet hook and smee and get photos which was cool but the food offerings were a bit poor from an adult point of view but lots of ice cream bars for the kids. Just make sure you've all eaten first. Meeting Peter Pan at the end was magical... he played hide and seek in the foyer of the contemporary with the kids they all loved it.

Make sure you ask to sit in one of the odd seat rows as they have the better view of the fireworks(if i remember correctly?)

We did this cruise last week and loved it. The view for the fireworks from the boat was great. We had an even number row, but the odd number rows are better as this is the side the fireworks are on. You could see the top of the castle from where we were sitting, but you could 't really make out the projections very well. We also viewed this show from inside Magic Kingdom and thought the whole thing was amazing.
I would personally try to watch the show in MK as you get the full effect of the projections on the castle which were great, but we did love the pirates and pals voyage as our daughter loves pirates and the interaction with the characters was great.
