We did it on our first trip last year thinking it wouldn't be too bad won't be doing it again, this time we are getting a car. Don't get me wrong it is very doable but extremely tiring in my opinion. Getting there seems fine because your excited but getting back can be a nightmare as it can be a bit of a long trip back & your tired from all the walking & long days. I think you can do more with a car but that's just my view on it

I know you said you don't want the stress of driving, I only drove for the first time last year (7th visit) and wish I had every time. Makes your Florida holiday so much better. We still had airport transfers and picked up the car on iDrive. It really REALLY is easy and very laid back driving in Florida. 20 minutes in and it'll feel like you've been driving there forever.

hi, thanks for all your replies. im still torn as to what to do, I absolutely hate the idea of wasting my time with buses! but on the other hand I forsee disaster when it comes to driving over there. driving over here in a new place can getme a bit flustered say if I take a wrong turn or something and I get a bit of road rage lol. Plus it doesn't help when my non-driver b/f gets worked up to and criticizes my driving, we're like a pair of velociraptors snapping at each other! :S

one idea is to book a package with car hire added in, take the car and if I really hate using it just park it up for the 2 weeks or take it back?

My first trip i didn't drive and wont be on my next trip, i drive ten hours a day for my job i am not going on holiday to drive

What i do is work out the cost of a hire car with all the parking fuel and so on and convert it into dollars and the way i see it if i spend less than this on bus/taxi then i'm quids in !

I do stay at doubletree thought which i think is well located for people without a car as seaworld is at rear car park with the Disney bus then aquatica on the side car park and trolley stop for i drive at the front only one i taxi to is universal.

You could hire a car for the day see if you feel ok driving then if so get one for the rest of your trip.

Mark do you need to use the Lynx50 from the Doubletree to DTD as they supply a shuttle dont they? I am asking cos we are going soon but was wondering if we would need to use the 50 as well incase the shuttles dont start until later? We havent booked a car but with peoples replies saying it can take up to 2 hours on the 50 not sure i fancy that. Would the hotel shuttle be quicker?

Booking package with free car hire is not a good idea. You will need to upgrade the insurance which will cost more than just hiring the car. We had a car for our first visit and it made everything easier and we were staying onsite and only did disney. Hiring again next year and estimate this will cost about £30 per day including parking when offsite etc. for the ease and flexibility wouldn't be without it.

Traveling up to 4 hours per day by bus does not sound like a good way to spend holiday time.
