B747 / A380 are 10 across in a 3-4-3 so nothing new there. A lot of B777 carriers have already moved to 3-4-3 rather than 3-3-3 with slightly thinner aisle - it’s just the way the industry has gone.
Reading that article, Cathay look to have a better economy than most with this new layout as 32” pitch, a snug (but typical) 17.2” width but 6” recline with 11”+ screen sounds good to me. Airbus have the option now on the A380 for 11 across on a 3-5-3 layout. Although I don’t believe there are any orders for the ‘A380 plus’ I wouldn’t rule out retrofitting on existing aircraft from some carriers when it’s time to refit. Dave Edited at 08:11 PM. |
