What a lovely kind neighbour we have.

About 35 years ago DH planted three very slow growing conifers in our front garden. They eventually grew to about five or six feet tall and very very bushy. A couple of months ago I started cutting them down with strong secateurs. A long and arduous job and slow too because our garden waste bin will only hold about half a tree, leaving a bit of room for grass cuttings, etc. DH had a go at one with big loppers. Now our next door neighbour is cutting down the remainder with a chain saw and putting the waste in a skip which his building contractors have and is no longer needed. All completely of his own volition. What a nice man and just how grateful am I! There are some kind people around.

Jan. Nice neighbour.

As an aside I got caught with conifers in our front garden. Suddenly wondered why we had no light in the lounge.
Took me weeks and weeks to get shot of them. Much better now.

Very nice of him, although perhaps they are problematic for him too? I have some enormous conifers (which were there when I bought) in my front garden, why anybody would plant them I do not know.

Conifers make a lovely hedge in large gardens but are nothing but a nuisance in small gardens.

Providing they’re pruned and cared for properly

We previuosly had a little bit of a barney with our neighbours over a front hedge, we got past it and recently worked together with them to cut a large tree in their garden which completely covered our bedroom windows, they are elderly ( but feisty) and have no help from their adult children.

It benefitted all of us in the end.
