I moved into a new build 5 years ago. I had no option and it had a gas hob.

Within a year, I had switched to Induction. It is quick and quite frankly, brilliant.

It also is so simple to keep clean.

I've had my induction hob for just over a year - absolutely love it. We have oil here - gas isn't really an option but even if it was, I wouldn't want to go back to it.

most of the people bigging it up say how easy to clean it is. personally, i couldnt care less about cleaning it, i want results over convenience...

so yeah, i guess it all depends on how much you love cooking vs convenience. i'm quite particular though, so im sure you'll be fine with it.
I definitely find that the better quality pans make a difference.

im sure they do, and i have a lot of cast iron/carbon steel kit.

i dont know if it was a low power/cheap hob we used last time, or the big pot supplied, but making chilli and boiling water/cooking the rice seemed to take an eternity.

as i said, its entirely possible ive only ever used carp hobs/pans, but all my experience over the last few years of using them have been massively negative.

but at least it was easy to clean at the end of the stay, right :p

Miss my induction hob which I had installed in my new kitchen in 2018. Moved house in November and when I have the new kitchen installed here it will be induction. Currently a gas range cooker but I don't like it.

Cleaning is easier but that's not the reason, just prefer the induction hob.

I was also advised to make sure I got a hard wired one as opposed to the plug in ones. I’m not sure how much difference that makes.

That makes a difference, or so I believe. I think the ones that just plug in dont get enough power. Perhaps that was the problem with the poster that said it took an eternity to make chilli. Personally, I prefer a long slow cooked chilli, but each to their own.

so do i, but when youre knocking up a (relatively) quick meal for 8 people after a day out walking round castles and stuff, you dont always have 3 hours to get everything cooked down...

How do you clean your induction hobs please? I have a ‘shadow ring’ in the centre area that won’t go!
