So where would you stay?
Next yr we're hopefully going to Florida and are going to spend a couple of weeks in a villa. We also want to stay in a hotel for the first 5-6 days in addition to the 2 weeks and spend my 40th Birthday there. Now i wish money were no object but it is
I was looking at Moderate Disney resorts as they're the kind of price range we can afford but then i thought it doesn't necessarily have to be Disney, just a really nice hotel. So for around £100-£150 a night or less can you recommend some hotels for me as i haven't been to Florida for a long time. Thanks!

Hi
not sure of prices but we have stayed in all the universal hotels and would recommend them all. Also the swan or dolphin are excellent as is the peabody on international drive. Hope this helps Rosa x |

Depending on what you want to do you could choose a hotel near Universal...OR if you want to visit Disney maybe Best Western Maingate (was Lakeside?)
But if I were you I would go for either HRH and visit Uni/ IOA on those days...and make use of the fast passes for residents And then chose a villa near to Disney for that part of your holiday Or why not spoil yourself and stay for a few days onsite for the special magic... and then a villa for all else you want to do Have fun planning...special birthday ...yay PS villas are beginning to book up for 2013 ...so do not leave too late if you have a special preference have a good think about it... Good luck with your decisions!

You could try renting dvc points from an owner on the dibb this will bring more disney resorts into your price bracket

Thanks so much for your suggestions, they're really useful.
never thought about Universal so will check that out. Susan, are owners flexible slightly because i haven't got flights booked yet and would be worried if i couldn't get the exact day? Thanks

I think myself and most owners will always be flexible to a point, especially if its pretty far in advance. We would hold roughly the dates you wanted but would agree to let you know should someone else want to book them so you have first refusal. IYSWIM! We have rented DVC ponts off another Dibber for our trip in may, that way we can afford 3 nights at AKL which the posted rates were £250 per night, I think we have paid about £140 a night through DVC, couldn't have afforded it otherwise.Have lots of fun choosing! Hard rock Hotel would get our vote for at least part of the stay. Beautiful hotel with great service. There is also no other way that i am aware of where you can then get in the park an hour early and also use your room key as an express pass for all rides bar rip ride rocket and WWOHP. Unlike the express passes on the gate which work just once on each ride, your room key can be used as often as you like.

My friends have just stayed at the new Hilton behind the convention centre on I Drive. They said it was amazing and great service. About £110 a night so maybe within your budget.
