Question New York at Xmas & new year

Hi, I’m just starting out planning a Christmas-new year trip to New York just me and my 19yr old son.
I’ve never been before so I’m looking for hotel and location recommendations plus a direct flight from Manchester leaving either 25/26th December and returning either 30th of 1st jan.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
*my budget atm is around £3000

Virgin now fly from Manchester and they have a sale on too. Maybe look at a package with virgin holidays? I've been for new year and it was fab. I booked diy though but that can be time consuming

I've just looked and the flights are only out upto 25 December so you will have to wait a few days

We went Christmas 2016. We stayed in Long Island City - just three subway stops from Central Park!

I did a trip report - details in my siggy

We stayed in the Ritz Carlton Battery Park on the occasion. I got a really good rate through Amex and it was on a 3 nights for the price of 2 at the time. It was a good base for us as our kids were young teenagers and I didn’t want to be right in the middle on NYE

I also used points I had accumulated and we upgraded to Club which saved us a load of money in food and drink

Been trawling all the sites and looking at various hotels today and I’m liking the look of the hotel Moxy Times Square... getting a package price of £2970 with BA flying out on Boxing Day and returning New Year’s Day.

Is that from London though? Why don’t you hold out and see what’s available from Manchester? It’s a pita getting back from London after a short transatlantic break

If you intend to do anything NYE plan early as the functions book up quickly but don’t forget your lad won’t be able to drink. If you are sports fans check the giants fixtures and tickets as that was a great day out although it was freezing!
