I'm not one for that either. But I would have hired a car, gone on day trips, gone sailing. I would have stayed at a non inclusive hotel and gone out to try different places for lunch and dinner.

Funny thing is we like to walk along the prom and stare out at the beach/ sea but neither of us want to sit on it , much rather sit next to the hotel pool and then just wander down to the sea for a quick walk out .
I love going in the sea if its calm and walking along the beach, but cant sit Roasting for hours. My dh would fall asleep under a umbrella but I get bored and need shops or something to look at!

Last year we did a villa holiday in Spain and loved it!
Could quite happily do that every other year as a break from full on holidays .
Dont think Id like to do a European hotel though unless it was a city break . Could not be racing for sunbeds every morning

this what we do , I always try to pick a resort where we can do several trips out be it by foot, car , bus or boat. We love going to different restaurants each night too.

I agree, for me AI is for isolated resorts, or those countries where it's not particularly safe to leave the resort (to be fair the type of places I don't go to).

I think AI in Spain, Greece etc would be such a shame

I'm grateful for any time away, whether it's 2 weeks in Florida or a weekend away in the UK. So many people can't afford any sort of holidays.

I never understand AI in Europe ...you miss so much. We do our own thing and get off the beaten track.
