New York - Shopping and Prices
Hi! Has anyone been to NYC recently? I'm wondering if the shopping prices are still better than in the UK? I am looking to go to Woodbury outlets whilst I am there. The cost of food also looks really high. What are your experiences? Thanks in advance.

Was last there in March. There are bargains to be had but it depends what you are looking for. We had good deals on under armour in macey’s which pleased DS2 and also on A&F, Hollister etc. DW had a few good deals at the Jersey Gardens Mall which has many of the regular stores and is only $14 return and about 1hr each way.
Food again depends what you like and the standard your looking for. There’s loads of advice and recommendations on other threads which I found invaluable. Only thing is there’s too much choice and I love my food. |

Was there last month. I didn't go to the outlet as i had stocked up from Orlando last November..
I went to macys and bought a couple of baby outfits for my new grandson and they had some really good deals on. As it was a birthday trip my children had given me some dollars and i bought some diamond studs for $100 reduced from $249 probably not that really but makes it feel like a bargain. Went to Tiffany & co and bought a return to Tiffany pendant. Think highlight as being brought a glass of champagne on a silver tray and looking at the not so affordable items on display.. It really does depend on what you are after. Can check online before you go to get some ideas. Food was quite expensive. We went to mcds once for breakfast and that was reasonable. Where are you staying? We stayed at shelburne affina and the rare and grill was really good. Edited at 12:06 PM. |

Sounds like you had a lovely trip I have been trying to get a reservation at The Blue Box Café in Tiffany but it seems impossible! We are staying at The Holiday Inn in the Financial District, got a good deal with BA in January £660 for 5 nights. We have booked K Rico for steak and Beauty and Essex for a nice night out but other than that think we will need to stick with some more casual places! x

Hiya
I got back last Saturday (was our first visit). 3 adults and one 13 year old. Ate at Applebee's, Olive Garden, Chevys (Mexican restaurant where The Ride picks up/drops off), Shake Shack as well as lots of other places. I'd read that food was expensive but tbh it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting. Food on Liberty Island was a bit expensive for what it was but you sort of expect it from those type of places (think it cost around $75 for pizza & fries, 3 hero sandwiches and soft drinks/coffee). Went to Woodbury and got some designer bits (some prices were OK but I think the prices in Florida are better). Topshop in NYC is much more expensive than home, so was Ivy Park in Footlocker. My Mum bought several pairs of shoes at Michael Kors in Macy's and she was happy about the price. Went to Century 21 and bought a pair of Joshua Sanders pumps for £75 so I was very happy with them! DD was pleased with prices/offers on in Victoria Secret/Pink. Anything else I can help you with just shout xxx

Oh and keep trying for Blue Box, I got a reservation but unfortunately had to cancel while we were there as I didn't realise that the Woodbury bus had to be booked at least 48 hours in advance. Make sure you're set up on Resy and that your card details are already loaded to secure your table. I had better luck using the laptop and being ready to hit the button at 2pm!

In Dec 2017 my sister and I had lots of bargains at woodbury common and it was well worth the visit. We had a couple of good buys at Macys and in the apple store too. Food wasn't overly expensive for us as we had breakfast included so tended to just snack, and we were too tired of an evening to sit and eat a 'proper' meal.
We did have lunch at olive garden for $10.99 which included pasta, salad and breadsticks. The pasta was awful but we did fill up on bread and salad.
