Best place to collect shells
My son absolutely loves collecting shells. Where are the best beaches to collect shells within a few hours' drive from Orlando? Sanibel Island sounds ideal but it's just too far for us to drive there and back in a day, and we won't be able to stay overnight.
Thank you in advance, U2fan |

Here is good, just above Clearwater, Dunedin is a lovely little town too.
floridastateparks/park/Honeymoon-Island Here is a bit further away a few miles beyond Sarasota, you can find fossilised sharks teeth and shells. We love this area and have two goldfish bowls full of teeth and shells. Again Venice is a really good town to look round. If you go onto the jetty by the café there are often dolphins playing in the creek , following the boats in and out. beachtreasuresandtreasurebea...c-shark-teeth/ Edited at 05:07 PM. |

We collected these from Fort Desoto State Park at their furthest beach.

Dunedin is a really lovely small town, we've rented houses there in the past. It has close associations with Edinburgh ( Dunedin was the old name for Edinburgh )
I'd head a few miles up the coast to Honeymoon Island which is good for shell collectors... and has a really nice snack bar and walks. This might help; beachhunter/honeymoon_island.htm |
