There's loads of prep but it's worth it and you can (must!) do it all the night before so that all you need to do is assemble and shove in the oven leaving you free to chat. I hate being stuck in the kitchen when people come over so a roast is always out!

Nopi and Plenty are my go -to books for entertaining 😋

There's the best pea soup recipe with goats cheese croutons too. Let me find that...

Sounds good apart from the chocolate. Do you taste the chocolate in the dish? There's some lovely recipes on that site. I've printed of the chicken with potatoes prunes and pomegranate molasses

Here's a couple of pork dishes. The BBC one we had last weekend - I roasted the pork loin with the rub on, it was very tasty. The ITV one is really easy and cheap, and once it's cooled and put in fridge, it keeps for a month. Nice with dauphenoise or risotto.

Those look good!

No, you can't taste it at all. As soon as you stir it in the remaining sauce thickens up and it just adds richness. Last time I forgot to buy chocolate and chucked in 3 ghiradelli 80% squares that I found lurking in the cupboard!

I recently made a Nutella cheesecake with Ferrero rocher to decorate it. It was absolutely lovely and nowhere near as sickly as I thought it would be!

Your menu sounds lovely and loads of great suggestions coming in.

We're not really dessert fans but I do love this...
It's a fig and pistachio frangipane with pistachio crumb drizzled with honey. I saw Gary make it on a Masterchef Australia Masterclass years ago. It's really good.

Lamb Henry. Really easy to do, tastes divine and looks like you've spent hours creating it.

I would always try and do something that looks after itself and a starter and pud that can be done the day before.

Soup as you said for starter and a cheesecake either baked or set for pudding. Got good recipes for both is you want any ie rhubarb, passionfruit, chocolate swirl!

I cook Sunday lunch for my Mum lots of times throughout the year. On Mothers day I make a special 'Afternoon Tea' to do something different. I make posh sandwiches and get the best china and my cake stand out.

It has gone down very well the last couple of years.

I am sure whatever you do your Mum will just enjoy spending time with the family

I just thought I'd update. I made...

Individual vintage cheddar and caramelised red onion tarts with rocket and dressing
Roast sirloin of beef with roast potatoes, roast multi-coloured carrots, yorkshires, mixed veg and gravy
Individual rhubarb ripple pavlovas with rhubarb sorbet

£43 for the beef

I'm shattered now
