DAS advice
So a little bit of background, this visit will be our first since DD 14 has had her autism diagnosis. We’ve not been to Disney since Feb 2020 when she was 12, and in previous visits we made use of the fastpass system for her and took plenty of rest breaks when things were too much.
I’m really in two minds about applying for DAS tbh, and feel a little guilty about considering it for this visit. The reason being that we have managed without it on previous visits. But covid and everything that has come with if, and probably a dose of teenage hormones too, has meant that our DD struggles more than she did when she was little and is more visibly anxious and overwhelmed at times. How easy is the process? I’ve mentioned it to DD and told her that she’d her picture taken over a live chat and she’s not keen at all. Thanks for any advice, this is all new to us but just want to do what’s best for her.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but you don’t need to register for DAS in advance. We’ve just been in June and set it up on our first day at MK at guest relations, it took 5 mins and they booked a ride for us there.
If she is uncomfortable doing it over video call, this could be an option. Also, you could always try the park on the first day and then decide if you would like to request the DAS pass or not based on how she got on. However, don’t ever feel guilty for asking for extra assistance when your family needs it. Even if it happens to be one day on the trip she is overwhelmed and anxious and everything is a bit too much, then the DAS will help. That’s what it is there for |

I cant say whether you should get a pass or not but i will tell you about my recent experience of the process.
The video chat portion of the process took us about 2 minutes maximum. I said to the CM that my son was unlikely to be willing to speak to him and it wasn’t a problem. The CM asked why he would struggle to queue- as soon as I said autism he stopped me and said “say no more - i will sort out your pass straight away” He asked if my son would come for a picture and again my son was not particularly co-operative but i just turned the phone in his direction and it took literally one second and it was done. He then asked me to tick to accept the terms and said that he would pass me through to live chat to pre-book the rides if i wanted. That was it. I was shocked at how super easy it was and my son never had to open his mouth once. |

Fab! Thank so much to you both. As long as she doesn’t have to speak on the call she should be ok. x

Just wanted to give an update. We completed our DAS registration today. It took 15 minutes to be connected to the video call and the call took a couple of minutes. Thanks for the advice, that’s another thing ticked off

How did you contact them? I’m finding Disney website just bounces me to the home page, I’ve no idea how I arrange a web Chat?! Getting so frustrated, just don’t fancy spending our first morning at guest services but I’m getting no where on their website... and ringing them I am in a queue for over an hour!

I downloaded a VPN app called turbo VPN. They have a 3 day free trial which I cancelled straight away. Once the VPN was connected I accessed the US Disney site and was connected quite quickly.
