How to plan?
I don't know where to start, last time I used busy day guide. This time I need to prebook park days for August but really have no clue how choose which day I do which park?
Just wondered how other August planners have done it? Thanks

Personally, have never once taken any notice of busy day guides. I chose what park on whicever day I feel like. However, the caviat to that is avoiding MK on a weekend (usually).
But, this is the first time we will have been in August, so my theory was day 1, start with the nearest park to our resort, so have gone AK day 1, followed by a random park each day after (only doing Disney). These park days have been interjected with pool days, water park days and shopping days (or afternoons). No real science behind it as I have no concerns as to how busy a park will/might be or how long I might/might not be waiting for a ride or attraction. Just happy to be going and spending 14 (fairly) chilled out days in WDW...

I’m the same as Bondy this time because the parks seem busy no matter what and I don’t think we can get a true picture with there not being as many visitors in the past couple of years.

Remember you can change your park reservations. August May collide with MNSSHP (or Boo To You, whichever they bring back this year) and that could change your plans,
Those are the dates I’m waiting for. I’ve made my park reservations but may well alter them when those dates appear (going in October so will clash for certain). Previous experience as above. Avoid MK on a Saturday. Avoid Epcot on Friday afternoons and Saturday. I don’t bother with crowd calendars. Save time on arrival or departure days, of you have the time to go, buy booking nearest park t9 your resort if onsite. EMH are also something to consider, I don’t know the impact of the late openings on how busy the parks are. |

This is our first time with kids so feeling the pressure to make it the best experience for them. I am having trouble navigating the app. Am I right in thinking we book the park on what day we want but also the rides we want to go on?
(sorry if that is a stupid question!) |

You need to make a park reservation for each day. You can’t book rides until on the day and this will involve an extra cost if you want to do that (you don’t have to book rides).

I get the pressure, it will be amazing!
Don’t panic too much about which days you visit, just apply the same common sense you would apply here, all the parks will be busier on weekends, AK is known to be a good Saturday park in comparison to the rest but they will all be busy. MK has previously been quieter on Halloween party days (which dates are now out for and start I’m August so you may collide - I’ve just rearranged my schedule due to their release). So an MK day on a party day might be quieter and more pleasant, though no promises. The little things in Disney are great for the kiddos. Plan any park hopping carefully, so for example Mk to Epcot means you can ride the monorail. Epcot to HS (or vice versa) gives you a chance to ride the sky liner. Epcot is right by the boardwalk and some hotels with nice restaurants ( Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and Beach Club). So approach days where you want to do more than one thing geographically and that will make your day much smoother. Are you staying on site or in a villa or off site hotel…? Plan “easier” days so no one hits a wall, eg water park day after a fireworks night, a late morning by the pool or afternoons in the pool then returning to parks, and an early evening here or there depending on how old your children are! Also remember it’s impossible to “do it all”. I remember my childhood Florida holidays so well and they were always amazing, even standing in queues and getting over hot and calling it a day by 2pm and just crashing back to where we were staying to chill in the pool……you’ll love it, |
