All a bit different now that they're teenagers!
I'm trying to persuade the OH for an Aug 23 trip. This has to be a budget trip!
For the first time (in forever!😏 we wouldn't do Disney...just US/IOA/VB. We usually stay in a villa with 7 seater car hire etc... this time we are contemplating a cheapy on I drive (if that even exists🤣 hotel with 2 rooms as we have 1 14yr old boy (share with us) and 2 17/16yr old girls (own room together). We are stuck with going in summer (a first for us!🥵 and hear the last 2wk of August are better. I feel clueless on where to start as I always do DIY Why can't they stay little forever and want to embrace the magic of Mickey lol Also, my reasoning behind a hotel with shuttles is that if (or more when ...as they most certainly will) the girls moan about being in the parks in the heat, they can go back to the hotel Any tips, hints or ideas around budget? |

I’m here now and finding this the most difficult trip with my teenagers. Youngest is still quite a young teenager and quite happy to do most things. Eldest seems to not like anything. Including: the heat, water, water parks, sand, burgers, the heat, queuing, crowds… did I mention the heat?
We have had to reduce the amount of time in the parks significantly. I’ve bought cooling towels, chilli bottles, fans all to help but not really making much of a difference. So my biggest piece of advice is to make sure you are really flexible. 👍🏻 |

Just a thought regarding the shuttles with the l Drive hotels, some are not that regular, they would take you in the morning and there would be a pick up at the end of the day, but not much else. I also found it difficult with teens too, they don't rise before noon, 😂😂

Have you priced up Endless Summer? They do suites with two bedrooms that sleep 6 and have the shuttles to and from Universal?
We stayed at Cabana Bay for a week in a family suite. |

We too are here now and finding the same as you, mine are 14 and 18, last time we came in 2019 they were 12 and 15 & alot more into it, this time they would rather sit in their rooms all day on their phones, hate the heat , bored of Disney 😳 don't get me wrong, I get where they are coming from but it makes life hard for us trying to have a nice family holiday.

I think you would be better with a villa so everyone could have their own space. Pool for chilling out in. WiFi will be decent too. TV will probably have Netflix. Also if your teenagers don’t want to go out you can leave them at the villa by themselves.
We are currently in Gulf Shores Alabama in a condo and my two aged 11 and 14 are happy watching rubbish on their phones after a day out. In fact they do it all day given the opportunity 😂😂 |

I would also suggest one of the Endless Summer resorts.
We stayed at Surfside in May and the shuttles run constantly we only ever waited a couple of minutes.

Me too. We stayed at Dockside in July, 2 bed room. Buses were excellent and my teen loved it.
