Child Seat position British Airways

Hi,

I have booked 5 tickets in rows 30 and 31 for BA (row 30 incorporates the bassinet position).

Our youngest will be 18 months old so hoping he will sleep for a while in the child seat.

How is this booked? Is it automatic when you select the position (I could see that he and I were tied together for the booking so presume this is how it is done).

Is the seat already on plane or do we need to get one at check-in? So confused!

I can see we go on the plane first so thinking it may all be sorted before anyone else gets on?

Would love to hear from anyone in the know.

They are given out to people in the appropriate seat on a first come first serve basis.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I did see that but just seeking clarification - is this given out at check in or does someone come down the plane?

Interested to hear if anyone on here has had experience of this

On the plane. They wouldn’t make you carry it through the airport after check in.

When you use the pre-boarding tell the crew as you get on so they know as early as possible that you need one. It can't be in place during take off and landing. The seat can carry children up to 12.5 kgs. Here is a photo of one in place on board.

As mentioned ask on boarding. Once the plane is safely in the air they will bring it to you and set it up. Its not a big seat, but is ok. There are a couple of videos on youtube that show it in action to give a better ida.

Great thanks all - just trying to make sure everything's sorted (first time flying with a child!). He will be 18 months so might be on the cusp of the max weight limit... fingers crossed not So happy to see the seat allocation cost nothing - his fare has paid for itself in legroom!
