Voucher instead of Ticket?

Eventually booked the last minute Orlando holiday yesterday, We travel on 18th October. I am just about to order park tickets, one supplier thinks they will get them to me at the end of next week but the other says it will be a few days before we travel (Cheapest too).
Is it true I cannot book fastpass until I have the tickets? If I opt for vouchers will I get the code so can log into fastpass within a day or 2?
I know I am cutting it fine and fastpass is already released for our dates so I may not be successful anyway.
Apologies for the questions, its been 5 years since our last Orlando hol and so much has changed!

Yes, I'm afraid so. You need valid tickets linked to your Disney account in order to book fastpasses.

It depends on the voucher. If the company emails you Disney's Will Call e-tickets then, yes, they'll be a reference number on it that you can link to your Disney account. This will allow you to book your fastpasses almost straight away. However, a few travel agents will send you a voucher without a Disney reference number on it and so you can't directly link these.

You would probably have to ask the ticket provider whether you can link their voucher to your online MyDisneyExperience account to be sure.
