Yeah, you hit the nail on the head, the ship was very tired looking, we found it quite dirty, needing a lot of touch up paint and varnish jobs, food was OK in the main dining area, we were really looking forward to the cruise as we had done 3 Disney cruises before and wanted to try RCI and different ports, a few people on the ship we were talking to felt the same. Hasn't put us of cruising though, maybe try another ship/company next time.

Glad it hasn't put you off RCI or cruising Give some of there bigger and newer ships a go. Voyager class is a couple years old now but still stunning. Freedom is just a newer stretched Voyager. Very nice class of ship. Also you could try Celebrity Cruises (owned my RCI) but they can be a bit more grown up and fewer kids. I'm a big fan of NCL as there dinning is superb and ships are more bright and colorfully than RCI and Princess. Gimme a shout if you'd like any further info

We sailed on vision of the seas for my 40th in May which is quite a small RCI ship so I can't wait to sail on Independence at christmas. Its the kids first cruise and I can't wait to see their faces when they see the ship for the first time. We're docking in Cozumel, Costa Maya and Belize. I haven't booked any excursions cos I don't think the kids will want to get off the ship.
Can anyone recommend any inexpensive things to do in these ports that will suit a 11 and 9 year old that might entice them off the ship? Edited at 12:30 AM. |
