Another ? about luggage and two different airlines
In June we fly with VA from Seattle to Heathrow and then onwards the same day with BA from Heathrow to Manchester. It would be so convenient if our luggage could be checked straight through from Seattle to Manchester. Is this possible?

Are they on the same ticket? Because if they're not on the same ticket (which I think might be the case as don't think VA/BA codeshare) then I'm fairly sure you will not be able to get the luggage checked through from Seattle-Heathrow-Manchester but will need to collect and recheck at Heathrow instead...

You will need to checkin twice and collect your cases in between.

We have flown BA and Virgin on the same ticket and the luggage was checked through (known as interlining I think) but on separate tickets I think it isn’t possible

Nothing to lose by asking nicely at SEA check-in if they can check the bags through, but be prepared for a negative answer.
Assuming a no, you will have to clear immigration and claim bags at T3 in LHR, then transfer landside by tube or Heathrow Express to T5 for bag drop and security. Hope you’ve got a reasonable time between flights to allow for delays. |

Arrive LHR 08:45 and leave at 14:05. I think that over five hours should be enough, provided everything goes according to timetable!
