Christening gift ideas?

So, our good friends have a son. He moved away from home about a decade ago and since then I think we’ve only seen him once… so we don’t know him too well but obviously hear updates from our pals…

He recently had his first child who is being christened next Sunday.

I want to do something or buy something but have zero idea what to do/get…. What’s the done thing these days? They have limited space as they live on a narrow boat!

So, cash? Voucher? Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I bought my god son a beautiful compass in a wooden box and had it engraved with the date and the message "may you always find your way home". Love the idea of this on a boat too!

I've given all my God children books- I love reading so I wanted them to always think of me when they read them (got a selection of books that I enjoyed growing up too) and to also hopefully instill a love of reading too.

I always give books or a Christmas stocking for any welcome to the world gifts
I love books even if I’m dyslexic and as a child a book that had beautiful pictures that related=to the words my copy of Wind in the willows is my grandkids favourite book
Our 15 year old granddaughter loves to read it to her pre school cousins as they can tell the story too from the pictures
