Just found this thread (directed here from the Coronavirus section!) - I must say this has scared me now!

So we’ve paid everything up front for our August trip (flights/accommodation on non-refundable rates) totalling £8500!

If we are offered vouchers and decline them, then nationwide won’t cover us is that correct?

So can I just check the voucher situation - we can only fly in the summer holidays due to schooling, could we in effect fly out a day earlier and fly home a day earlier? Would the two flight voucher dates work like that, or would the return flight now have to arrive back a year to the day before our original outbound flight? (Sorry for the complicated wording - I’m just trying to ascertain if there is any way we can make the vouchers work - we could make the trip happen if we can in effect go the same time next year (albeit one day earlier), but there is no way I could bring the holiday forward three whole weeks, as my son is in his gcse years of high school.

This whole thing seems to get worse and worse ☹️

Yes, you are correct. Vouchers are classed as a refund as far as the insurer is concerned. You should demand a cash refund. It is not the responsibility of the insurer

Can I ask a question here please? We also have NW insurance with their Flexplus account. From the FAQ I can see if we choose to reschedule for this year we are still covered. However, if we reschedule for 2021 ( August) am I right in thinking that we would NOT still be covered as our policy is always renewed in February?

Not sure about the renewal bit but I would guess you are right on that.

Re the rescheduling check my previous posts they told me you are only covered for rescheduling if you do not have to pay anymore! If it costs more to reschedule due to price increase then you are not covered for any CV risks including medical!

Theres so much going on at the moment with regards to travel and insurances (we all did the right thing at the time buying our policies ) and if we have to change dates this is not our fault ,surely something needs to be put in place to protect us more as it always seems to work in the favour of the insurer. People stand to lose a lot of hard earned money.
