indirect flights and car hire

looking for some advice regarding indirect flights- I’ve only ever done this once 8 years ago (MAN-PHI-LAX) and I honestly can’t remember what the process was!

I have flights booked on Xmas day, flying Manchester to Amsterdam, with a 2.5 hr connection, flying onto Boston (KLM/Delta)- do we clear immigration in Amsterdam or Boston? What do I need to do regarding luggage- do we collect it and re-check it in?

Returning home on New Years day it is the same route but only 1.5 hr connection which I appreciate will be very tight- done a brief “google” and the consensus seems to be to ask as many people as you can to help you out in the airport eg mention to air hostesses that you have short connection and ask check-in to mark your luggage with short connection tags, ask the ground staff if they can move you quickly through immigration- doesn’t always work but worth a shot as I imagine new years day won’t be the easiest day to put us on another flight if we miss the connection

Also how much should I realistically be looking to pay for car hire xmas day- new yrs day? To be honest we only need one for the 27th to drive up to New Jersey for the Pats game and also to visit Wahlburgers, everything else seems pretty close and the parking at our hotel is $30 per day and we wont need one in an evening as hubby will want a few sam adams! so I’m not sure what to do as we definitely need one for the NFL game

If you looked for a 1 day hire from Logan a full size shoudn't be more than £45+
Try Alamo Brits, they do some good prices.
