OKW upgrade when we arrive

Hi,

Arrive at Disney on 9th Oct and staying in Studio & the inlaws are staying in a 2 bed villa. As we're a family of 5, to keep costs down initially we allocated one of the kids into the 2 bed villa (girls are older, 13 & 15 and happy to do it) and we booked a studio.
We always stay in a one-bed at OKW, but the cost this year was eye watering compared to previous years so it was - at the time - the difference between going or not.

Anyway... we've been trying for the past couple of months to upgrade our Studio to a one-bed villa so we can all be together in the same room. Don't mind having one of the kids "sleeping over" with the family if it comes to it - but would rather we're all together. There's been no availability at all for one or two bed villas since we started looking to upgrade.

I'm thinking about phoning up Disney to 'check-in' (think you can do it 5 days before arrival?) and when on the phone was going to ask about the option to upgrade. Obviously more than happy to pay, not looking for a free upgrade.

My question is whether there is likely to be any villas held back for emergency / last minute reasons that would make this approach even remotely possible, or if they are sold out of villas online then that's it.

I think there have been issues with overbooking at these (OKW and SSR) resorts this year so would imagine they are at capacity. I think your best bet would be to call and see if they can help.

Check in is done online, not over the phone but they may still have one bed villas available. It’s always worth a call. Or you can ask when you arrive.

Try calling as I know check in online is having a fair few issues at the mo!
