Question Not been for 9 years. What has changed?

As the title says. I’ve not been to WDW for 9 years. Next February my DM is taking me for a week to celebrate my 50th. Is there anything I might not know about? We are doing 1 night at Universal, which we have never done before so any advice would be gratefully received. Harry Potter is our main interest there.

The Dibb timeline is a good place to start for things that have opened/closed

Thank you. I had no idea The DIBB had that feature.
I have no idea how to plan Universal at all.

A lot! We went this Aug after a 4 yr break and do much had changed in that time!
Universal for starters has both Harry Potter areas which are amazing. I would actually be tempted to have 2 nights there if you can as this will give you 3 days express passes. We did it in 2 days and it was hard work as very full on!

While there ride wise there is a lot of new things the biggest differences will be the queues there is no off season now and the fast passes

Lots we had a 10 year gap, found the parks where a lot busier. We did universal but struggled to get alot done in two days, stayed off site so ended up buying fast pass on day 2 (you should get these free) just to be able to get more done. Was really busy trying to catch the train at harry potter land. Also seemed to be lots more places for getting photos taken I spent a while trying to get the dragon doing fire ! 10 years ago we only did 10 days and got loads done in parks plus loads etc away last year did 14 days and struggled to get everything done, and didn't do several things off site like we did. Also big one for me was the fireworks not so grand as they once where, still great though.

I look forward to reading all about your experience. I am hoping to take my DS13 next summer and he has never been. I will be going for the first time in 12 years.

Apart from universal the biggest change for me since my last visit 7 years ago is the addition of Fantasy Land. Its made a massive change to the Magic Kingdom imo.
