Using Uber in Orlando
Hi,
I'm staying onsite at Disney next year. For the days I am planning visits to Universal or i-Drive I will probably be using Uber. Is this the best way to get around? Is Lyft any better/different? I don't want to drive. Any comments on how to pay for Uber too? Thanks

So, in the US for Uber:
3045 reported sexual assaults in 2018 against 1.3 billion trips in the same year. This is a shocking number of assaults, for sure. But there's no need to respond to the OP with this kind of fear-mongering. Let's put things in perspective... this represents 0.00023% of all Uber trips in the US that year... |

And to actually answer some of your question - I also plan to use Uber when I’m in Florida. My sister recently came back and used it a lot and was very impressed. There are dedicated drop off/pick up areas at the park, and the app was easy to use.
Download the app on your phone and you can link a credit or debit card and pay through that. I think you can even add a tip through the app |

This is overblown by the media IMO. Half of these are by passengers as PPM said. Would need to measure against a comparable number of rides and the sum total of all other taxi services in the US. It's not like this never happens elsewhere, unfortunately. Don't be afraid to Uber.
If you have a car already, personally I would take it to I-Drive. Parking is free at ICON and most other places nearby so no incremental cost there. Plus it's easy to get to. Universal requires you to pay so factor that out of using Uber. If you don't have a car, Uber is a reasonable way to get around. Plus, along I-Drive you can also use the I-Drive Trolley for something different. |

I've used uber in Orlando on several trips. I link my Halifax Clarity card to the account so I don't get charged a transaction fee (uber is cashless so you have to link a card to your account). It's very easy and you can look out for sign up offers to save some money. Lyft works in pretty much the same way so you can check for offers for them too and set up both.
