Job seekers advice

My daughter collected her keys for her first flat 6 weeks ago. She got a Tel call from her line manager as we were leaving lawyers office that the company she works for was going into receivership. That was the first any of the staff knew about it including her line manager. She had another weeks work after that. She has applied for job seekers allowance, has arranged a mortgage break ( hasn’t even made her first payment yet). She still hasn’t heard anything back from jobseekers and we appreciate the Coronavirus has had a massive impact but that’s 4 weeks now. Any one know how long they typically take to get back to applicants ? And is there anything else she should be applying for. Living on her savings just now. Thanks for any advice.

Thank you. Problem with phoning is she hasn’t got a landline and high charges for using a mobile. Can’t come home to phone as self isolating and we are both front line emergency services. Vicious circle sometimes.

If it’s universal credit that’s an online system so she should go into her online journal and send a message asking what is happening with her claim. It’s paid a month in arrears.

Calling DWP all numbers are free for new style JSA the no is 0800 055 6688. If it's a Universal Credit claim this is done online and no need to call them as once claim is submitted local JC+ will call to verify ID over the telephone, once that's done you can apply for a benefit advance (interest free loan) in essence which is recovered a bit at a time. If UC claim don't try to verify ID online. Hope this helps.
