Another PE hater here... but my lovely dad used to write me notes EVERY week. He used to have bad hips, and was a milkman, I used to catch him up and help him for the rest of the round in return of a note to bunk off the day. 🤣

Totally! Plus the whole school knew when you had become a woman with your first bra - a 28aa from Ethel Austin 😂

I took violin lessons to get out of one PE lesson a week! (Music lessons were free back in my day.)

We couldn’t use that one as an excuse! Our teachers made us do it always saying the same thing ‘exercise will ease the pain’ 🙄

I love p.e but i usually did for swimming. In the end I just said "you know I can swim, I'm sick of diving for bricks, can I go and do another p.e lesson" they said yes it be with the boys though, I said fine and off I went. In the end my mam just got me to write all my notes myself.

Even better I got my older sister to write me notes, my dd signs everything for school now. I trust her because she tells me what it’s for, pe in the 1970s was some sort of torture. Running cross country in a small tunic with your navy blue knickers showing. Swimming in the cold in our outdoor swimming pool, teacher forcing you to strip and get in the shower. No wonder I tried to get out of it so much, least now you don’t have to shower and can wear joggers and a sweatshirt outside!

As a Primary School teacher, the best note I was given was signed ‘Dad’. The child couldn’t understand why I was asking if she had written it herself 🙄

I forged a note on numerous occasions - I always did it from my dad has he never, ever wrote a legitimate note to the school (was always mum) so I k ew they couldn’t compare signatures.

Worked every time but don’t think schools were so bothered back then
