Spanish QR Code/ Form Necessary for Entry

Few tips having just done this.

Apparently you can turn up at the airport and do it, but can be a huge queue if you do that. So you are better getting the QR code first.

There is an Android App but no iPhone App yet (coming soon). However we found the Android App difficult to use with oddly worded questions badly translated.

We therefore used the website-https://www.spth.gob.es/

You basically complete your details, sign a declaration and get emailed a QR code which is a good idea to then print off. It is a two step process- part one complete your basic details, and email etc, then be sent an authorisation code to proceed, then part two more details including where you are staying and the declaration (not been in a live animal market, to hospital etc).

Each adult can take one child in on theirs. If there are more children than adults I assume you would just do a separate application for each child.

One issue- you have to put an apartment number in- put '0' if no apartment number, otherwise you cannot proceed- both for your home address and where you are staying (that is what I did anyway).

Fairly straightforward - you will need the details of where you are staying, passport number, flight number and seat number.

Now, we are on our way to sunny Spain Tuesday.

We have booked a last minute trip to Gran Canaria with Tui leaving next Saturday. Haven’t told the kids yet as I’m half expecting something to happen and it will be cancelled.

You can of course print the QR code if desired, but it’s not necessary if you have a smartphone or tablet, it can be scanned directly from that. There’s also a temperature check for each passenger.

Apparently some scanners were not working in Tenerife or something the other day but if you had it printed out they were checking and letting you through- so I read on a Facebook forum. Not sure why they were dealing with printed versions differently but we have printed out after reading this.

It is for entry anywhere in Spain. If you mean there is no option to choose that destination from the dropdown when completing the form, from memory that part is done by autonomous province. So for Menorca, you would select Balearic Islands (Illes Balears in Catalan, Islas Baleares in Spanish).
